If you haven't visited a California Mission, I urge you to do so.  Mission life was quite primitive, due to the unavailability of many things that we take for granted; grocery stores, hardware stores, drug stores, doctors, dentists, antibiotics, shoe stores, clothing stores, cars, busses, trains, and airplanes.  Why they didn't even have a Starbucks at the end of the street.  There were no TVs and daily newspapers to keep you informed.  I could go on and on!  The priests were missionaries and were here to convert the Indians to Christianity.  Let's go on a treasure hunt up the California Coast and visit a few of the 24 missions that are perched along the way.
