My daughter's school fourth grade teachers at Willow School, in the Las Virgenes School District developed a similar scavenger hunt for their fourth grade class to a California mission. It was the best field trip that my daughter or I had ever been on. As a matter of fact, after speaking to several other parents, they all felt the same way that I did. The children and parents were all focused on finding the answers and completing the hunt. The children had no idea how much they were learning from this game. It made the day so much fun that my daughter asked to go back again.
It was then that I decided that I had to write similar treasure hunts for museums as well. I knew that if I ever wanted accompaniment by my children to museums then I had to do something similar in museums to make them as much fun. I put my head together with two teacher friends of mine Cindy Roche and Brent Block and together came up with the Museum Mania™ Treasure Hunt .
All of the Museum Mania™ Treasure Hunts are currently on the California State Department
of Education Instructional Resources List.
