About Museum Mania

The Mission Statement of Museum Educational Foundation is to make experience in museums, historical landmarks and libraries enjoyable, and entertaining. Museum Mania has been publishing treasure hunts since 1995. These treasure hunts are museum and grade specific treasure hunts. This educational publisher says, "WHO SAYS THAT MUSEUMS AND LIBRARIES HAVE TO BE BORING!?!?"

The idea for the Museum Mania Treasure Hunt was born from a fourth grade class trip to a California mission. "It was the best field trip that my daughter or I had ever been on!" said Ms. Jackson, owner and founder of Museum Mania. Ms. Jackson, mother of three found out that all of the other parents felt the same way that she did. The children and parents were all focused on finding the answers and completing the hunt. "It really tickled me that the children had no idea how much they had learned from this game. The kids and parents just had fun together." said the founder." It made the day so much fun that Ms. Jackson's daughter asked to go back again.

It was soon after the field trip that Ms. Jackson decided to write similar hands-on treasure hunt workbooks for museums as well as historical landmarks, and now public libraries. The Museum Mania Treasure Hunts incorporate age appropriate, state, and federal mandated curriculum into their treasure hunt workbooks.

Museum Mania will be publishing a continuing educational series called the 'Dewee and Libby Series'. The company's signature cartoon characters are named Dewee Decimal and Libby O'Congress. This library-based duo will teach children many of the skills necessary to become successful students.

Museum Mania Treasure Hunts are distributed by Museum Educational Foundation, (MEF) a California Nonprofit Corporation founded in 1997. MEF was established to distribute the Museum Mania Treasure Hunt books at a very low cost or free, by the means of donations from private corporations and other educational grants.
